Walker Central Football Club, a registered charity, is the heartbeat of Walker, transforming lives through grassroots football. For over three decades, we’ve nurtured players from Under-7s to Seniors, fostering physical health, teamwork, and confidence in a community where opportunities can be scarce. Our Saturday morning camps at Monkchester Road welcome 200+ young players, many from low-income families, offering free sessions and affordable kits to ensure no one is left on the sidelines. As a volunteer-led organisation, every pound we receive goes directly to sustaining our pitches, equipment, and inclusive programs that unite families and inspire pride.

Your grant or donation will power our mission to expand access and impact. Funding helps us maintain our floodlit pitches, purchase new training gear, and offer more free places for kids in need. A £500 grant could equip an entire youth team with kits, while £2,000 could fund a season of free Saturday camps for 50 children. Donors receive recognition on our website, at our community clubhouse, and during matchdays, joining a legacy of support that’s seen our teams reach cup finals and our players grow into leaders. Contribute today via our secure payment platform or contact us to discuss grant opportunities—together, we’ll keep Walker’s heart kicking strong.

❊ Testimonials

Loved by the Community, Trusted by our members.

Seriously! But don’t take our word for it, here are some things people have to say about us.

We can’t say enough good things about this the team at walker. Our daughter went from being nervous about spending a week away from home to begging us to sign her up for the longer session next summer! She came home so much more confident, more independent, and totally in love with every sport she tried.

Rebecca M., Parent

Sending our child to walker FC for the first time was a big step, but we knew right away they were in great hands. The coaches and staff created such a welcoming, safe space. Our son felt supported, included, and had an absolute blast every single day.

Sophia R., Parent

“This club was exactly what our daughter needed. She came home more confident, independent, and excited to take on new challenges. It wasn’t just about sports—it was about believing in herself. We’re so thankful for the amazing role models she found there."

❊ FAQs

You’ve got questions,
we’ve got answers

  • Our Saturday Sports Club, held from 10am to 12pm at Monkchester Road, is packed with fun and learning for kids aged 5-15. A typical session starts with a warm-up and icebreaker games to get everyone energized, followed by skill-building drills like passing, dribbling, and shooting, tailored to each age group (5-9 years: 10-11am, 10-15 years: 11am-12pm). We mix in small-sided matches to encourage teamwork, ending with a cool-down and a quick team huddle to celebrate progress. Our coaches focus on fun, inclusion, and confidence-building, ensuring every child leaves smiling.

  • Your child should come ready to play with comfortable sportswear, football boots or trainers (no metal studs), shin pads, and a water bottle. We recommend a small snack for energy, as our sessions are active! A labelled jacket or jumper is handy for cooler days. All equipment like balls and cones is provided by Walker Central FC, so just bring enthusiasm and a can-do attitude. If your child has specific medical needs (e.g., an inhaler), please ensure it’s clearly labelled and noted on their medical form.

  • Medical forms are essential for your child’s safety and can be submitted directly to us via email at alfsameday@me.com or in person at the start of their first session at Monkchester Road. You can download the form from our website’s “Join Us” page or request one by calling 07761 043589. Please complete and return it at least 48 hours before your child’s first camp day to ensure our coaches are fully informed about any medical conditions or allergies.

  • Safety is our top priority at Walker Central FC. Our Saturday Sports Club is run by DBS-checked, FA-qualified coaches trained in first aid, with defibs on-site thanks to our community partners. We maintain low player-to-coach ratios (max 12:1) for close supervision. All activities take place on our secure, floodlit pitches at Monkchester Road, with clear check-in/out procedures for parents. We follow strict safeguarding policies as a registered charity and ensure regular equipment checks to keep the environment safe and fun.

  • Football goes on, rain or shine, as our Monkchester Road pitches are built for all conditions! For light rain, we continue with adjusted activities to keep kids safe and engaged. In extreme weather (e.g., heavy storms or snow), we’ll notify parents by 8am via email or text (sign up for alerts on our “Join Us” page). Cancelled sessions are rescheduled or credited for future camps, ensuring no one misses out. Always bring a jacket and extra layers just in case!

  • Absolutely! Our Saturday Sports Club is flexible to fit your schedule. You can sign up for a single session, a full term, or pick specific days that work for you—no long-term commitment required. Registration is easy via our website’s “Join Us” page or by emailing alfsameday@me.com. Free trials are available, and thanks to Sport England’s Movement Fund, we keep costs low or free for eligible families. Just let us know your preferred dates when you register!
